Our Crafts with Play-Doh and other materials Gallery and Info
Besides drawing things, my sister Pinky loves to make crafts and models with play-doh, stickers and many things that we can find around the house. This next photo gallery by Nalaka Daundaratne (pinky) shows some of her work. Since she has hard time with moving her fingers, she is little slow making them compared to her speed of drawing arts on iPod. These play-dog vegetables figures in the photo gallery were made by me as a gift to her. She loves them so much. I had to make them several times as Pinky became very sad each time they were broken accidentally. Then I found a way to dry them and give her to play which stopped breaking sooner than before. I will one day write or make a video showing how to make them if you want to learn too. Also, I know how to make our own play dough at home, and I will teach you how to do it next. I learned this from Miss. Anderson at school.
How to make Play Dough at Homes
We use lot of play dough at home to play as both my and my sister love them. My mom buys lot of play-doh from the supermarket and eBay every month. She is working hard and don’t have that much money to spend. One day my teacher told us how to make them at home and gave a paper with a list of ingredients and steps to make play dough at home. I am writing here what I leaned and how I make them to play with my sister. You can also try making at home if you want to help your mom with money if she is working like ours.
Ingredients to make play dough

4 cups of flour

1 teaspoon of salt
-
3 cups of little warm water from the tap

1/4 cup of cooking oil

Pink and blue colouring that we use to make cake icing
If you are still in school like me, you must ask you mom or dad to make this as it’s not safe to use hot water by your self. That’s what Ms. Anderson told us and also my mommy.
Get a glass bowl that you have at home and mix all ingredients given here. My mom uses the cake mixing spatula to combine all the things in the list. You can use any food colour to make the play dough that you want. We love blue and pinks and always make those two and white play dough which is without any added coloring.
Your mommy must cook this dough at little heat for few minutes in a non-stick pot. Then leave it aside to cool down for a longer time. Once it’s ok to touch, you can take the dough out of the pot and start mixing little more as you squeeze and play with usually for few minutes. Then you are done. Now you got lot of play dough to play with at home. If you want to use them again for few times, wrap them with a plastic sheet and place in the fridge. That’s how we do at home.

At our home, all love nature, hiking and camping. Each time get a chance I take many photos as possible. I had a big collection of pictures until sometime ago but lost them all when my sister dropped my phone in the lake when my dad was taking us on a boat ride.
